The North Gold Coast Seahawks are thrilled to announce the exciting introduction of a shot clock in our junior domestic competition, a significant enhancement that aims to elevate the level of play and excitement in our games. As the skill level of our young athletes continues to rise and develop, it has become clear that implementing a shot clock will improve decision making and the pace of the game, and help transition our players from our domestic competitions, to representative basketball. Starting this season, the A grades in the U14, U16, U18, U20, and SLG Division 1 will now compete with a shot clock.
This new rule will require Team A (first listed team on fixture) to provide two scorers during each game: one scorer will be responsible for operating the iPad or scoreboard to keep track of the overall game score, while the second scorer will manage the shot clock.
For those who may feel apprehensive about performing shot clock duties, there is no need to worry. We understand that adapting to new regulations can be challenging, which is why we will provide comprehensive guides that will be printed out and made available on the scorebench for easy reference. Additionally, a friendly Seahawk representative will be present to assist and guide you through the process of using the shot clock. We would highly encourage our representative parents, who are familiar with shot clock, to help train other parents in your team.
We believe that the introduction of the shot clock will not only enhance the competitiveness of our junior domestic competition but also contribute to the overall development of our players, preparing them for higher levels of play in the future.
