The SmartSkill Seahawks Women and Seahawks Men stayed in the winner’s circle with their last games, with convincing wins over the Southern Districts Spartans on Sunday.
The SmartSkill women’s side continued their dominance of the QSL season, with a dominating 77-53 victory.
The damage was done in the first half, with the Southern Districts team unable to cut through the strangling defence of the Seahawks, only collecting 10 points for the half with 8 of those coming in the second quarter.
The second half saw Southern Districts win the 3rd quarter, but it wasn’t enough to trouble the evenly balanced SmartSkill Seahawks Women’s side.
Courtney Willemse once again top scored, with a 17 point, 5 rebound, 5 steals performance.
Taylor Harvey returned to form after missing close to a month with a hand injury, piling on 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals in limited time on the floor.
The Seahawks Men piled on their largest score of the season, in a dominating performance against a usually strong Districts outfit, coming out convincing winners 102-71.
In what was a high scoring first half, the Seahawks men were in front 16 at the main break and looking to tighten the screws to start the second half.
Their opponents thought differently and came out and put the clamps on defensively and wound back the Seahawks lead to 11 at one point.
The 4th quarter saw an incredible offensive and defensive output from Coach Mullan’s men, restricting their opponents to a measly 9-point 4th quarter while piling on 28 of their own.
Jesse Lomax was the star of the afternoon, finishing the game 26 points, 7 rebounds to go along with 5 steals.
Young gun, Amarco Doyle, had his largest scoring output of the season with 18 points on 7 of shooting as well 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
Saturday will see the teams travelling to the Sunshine Coast to play USC Rip at USC Stadium.
