To round off Coach McGuire’s squad for the NBL1 North 2022 season, the North Gold Coast Seahawks are proud to announce that David Gurney has agreed to terms for this upcoming season.
Gurney was instrumental to the team’s success in QSL last year, being second in scoring in the league at 23ppg. His years of experience helped drive his team to being runners up of the competition.
David and his wife, Melissa, continue to be heavily invested in the Association off court, being the Head Coach and Assistant Coach of the U14 Girls Teal team. They both also support the development programs in Prep 4 Rep and Take Flight. With sister Danielle being President of the Coomera City Warriors, needless to say the Gurneys are huge for the Seahawks.
Gurney is ready to get to work for the upcoming season.
“I really enjoyed being back playing last season after having a fair bit of time off,” said Gurney.
“When we found out that the Association was making the jump into the NBL1 North competition, my feet definitely started to get itchy”
“The work Brad, Marko and the team have done around the basketball product of the Seahawks has been outstanding, and it’s exciting to be a part of”
Head Coach for the Seahawks Men’s NBL side, Luke McGuire, knows the importance that Gurney brings to the group.
“Dave really showed last year that he still has the skill and desire to compete at the highest level, and we are pumped that he’s decided to be on board for the NBL1 season,” said McGuire.
“He will really impact the group positively, from his work ethic to his leadership abilities, he will keep everyone accountable and provide that veteran mindset that our group needs”
“He, along with his family, are pillars of the Seahawks program, so I’m confident in saying that there will be a lot of people happy that he is back playing again this season”
