NBL1 Player Announcement – Charli Reece

For our first player signing for our introduction into the NBL1 North, we are proud to announce Seahawks Junior Charli Reece will be back in teal for season 2022.

Charli had an outstanding 2021 QSL season, helping her team to an undefeated season and hoisting the championship trophy at the end of year. Because of this, Reece was a focus to get on board for season 2022.

Holding down the paint as a primary 5, Reece has shown the ability to step out and show she is more than power and force, proving her ability to knock down the jump shot giving opposition defences something else to deal with. Head Coach for the NBL1 SmartSkill Seahawks Women’s team, Brad Kann, is excited to see what Reece can do at the next level.

“Charli was excellent for our team last season” said Kann.

“Considering she had an interrupted college experience and an interrupted QSL campaign due to COVID, Charli has shown she is ready to compete at the next level”

“I love what she brings at the defensive end, with her physicality disrupting teams whether it’s in the block or out of the on-ball screens, I know Charli can compete at the NBL1 level”

“It’s always a fantastic story when a Seahawk Junior makes it all the way through the pathway of our association, so it’s a credit to Charli for wanting to be on this NBL1 journey with us”

Reece was excited to put pen to paper and be a part of her junior club’s transition into the NBL1 North competition.

“I’m really excited to be able to test and challenge myself at the NBL1 level” said Reece.

“It was a great opportunity to get my feet back underneath at QSL last season, but the goal has always to be playing at the highest level of competition available”

“Brad (Kann) has been awesome with what he has brought to the women’s program and the overall association and I’m looking forward to working with him and the team again in 2022”
