Official Statement from Seahawks Interim President Andrew Price
Dear Seahawks Family,
I hope this message finds you well and you are enjoying the holiday season. I am writing to address recent media reports that have raised concerns about our beloved North Gold Coast Seahawks.
Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to each of you for your unwavering support and commitment to our club. Your passion is the heartbeat of the Seahawks, and it is what fuels our determination to overcome challenges and continue soaring to new heights.
Financial Health and NBL1 Participation:
Recent media coverage suggested financial concerns and potential withdrawal from the 2024 NBL1 league. I am pleased to inform you that Basketball Queensland CEO Josh Pascoe has confirmed (online published article 15/12/2024 in Gold Coast Bulletin) the club's financial stability and affirmed our participation in the NBL1 North league in 2024. We have successfully met all criteria and with recent decisions made by the management committee are operating well within the top five percent of basketball associations in monitoring our finances.
Addressing Misinformation:
It's unfortunate that some media reports have painted a less than accurate picture of our situation. I want to assure you that our association is not in turmoil, as confirmed by Basketball Queensland. Our operations staff and new management committee are fully committed to prioritising the best interests of our young athletes, our members and the wider Seahawks community. We are united and resolute in our goal. Together, we will stay strong and overcome any challenges that come our way.
Operational Continuity:
In the face of recent management changes, our dedicated operations team and your recently elected committee members have seamlessly stepped in to guarantee the uninterrupted flow of our day-to-day operations. Their commitment stands as a testament to the strength, resilience, and unwavering love for our Seahawks association. Together, we navigate change with unity and a shared commitment to the success of our club.
Gratitude to Basketball Queensland:
On behalf of our Seahawks Family and I extend my sincere thanks to Basketball Queensland CEO Josh Pascoe for his support and transparent communication throughout this process. Pascoe's confirmation of our financial soundness and ongoing collaboration is a clear testament to the strong relationship between Seahawks and Basketball Queensland. This reinforces our shared commitment to transparency and stability. Together, we will continue the success of our basketball association.
Juniors at the Core:
Our juniors are the heartbeat of our association, and decisions made by our operations team and board will always reflect this. The recent changes in leadership have been guided by a commitment to providing the best possible pathways for our young talents. Rest assured; we will never compromise the future of our juniors by overinvesting in any particular program. Together, we will build our juniors program to be the most successful ever (for both our elite players and our social players).
Cultivating a Family Culture:
At Seahawks, we are dedicated to creating and nurturing a family culture within our association. Our commitment to unity, support, and shared values is unwavering. Together, we will continue to build an environment where every member feels a sense of belonging and support.
Looking Forward to a Bright Future:
We're excited about the journey ahead and the continued growth of our Seahawks family - both for our Juniors (Swooper Hoopers, plus our juniors all the way through to U20s) and our Seniors (from social comps through to a huge season of NBL1). Together, we'll make the upcoming year even more remarkable.
Thank you for your continued support, and let's embrace 2024 together with optimism and a shared vision for success!
Warm Regards,
Andrew Price
Interim President
North Gold Coast Seahawks Basketball Inc.
