North Gold Coast Seahawks Basketball have a number of member clubs servicing the entire northern and central Gold Coast region. Players are free to play for any club they choose, as they may have friends that already play, but we try to direct players to clubs based on the school that they attend. The North Gold Coast Seahawks QBL program received a major boost this week with the announcement of a partnership with Coomera Anglican College (CAC). The deal marks new territory for the North Gold Coast club as its first sponsorship agreement with a school.
Coomera Anglican College Business Manager David Dobbie is extremely pleased to be adding basketball to the College’s range of sporting strategic partnerships. “In order to enhance the opportunities for our students, the College is entering into a number of partnerships with high quality sporting organisations, that support the College’s sporting Academy programmes, and we see North Gold Coast Seahawks as one of the leaders on the Gold Coast”.
The College has been fielding junior teams in the Seahawks competition for many years which has resulted in much improved results for the College’s teams in their inter-school APS competitions. More recently the College has launched a basketball academy, showing firm intent to further develop their overall basketball program.
“The addition of the QBL Program to the Seahawks Development Pathway provides extra opportunity for Coomera Anglican College players to compete at the highest level in the State” explained the College’s Head of Sport Anthony Hall. “We have many Coomera Anglican College players already representing Seahawks in the junior ranks and we hope to see some of them going on to represent Seahawks in the QBL in years to come”.
The support of the College gives the Seahawk’s maiden QBL campaign a shot in the arm, increasing the club’s capacity to put a highly competitive product on the floor. Seahawks General Manager Kerran Evans is thrilled to have the College on board in 2018. “Coomera Anglican College make up a large contingent of our Seahawks family. We’re wrapped to have the school supporting us in our leap to the next level”.
The club is busily in the process of assembling both the men’s and women’s squads ahead of the pre-season, while also continuing to seek out support from the local business community. “With excess of 1500 members, our Seahawks family delves deep in to the North Gold Coast region, presenting a great opportunity for business” Evans explains. “Not only does partnering with us give great reach in to our local community, the QBL competition covers the entire State stretching as far north as Cairns, with clubs dotted all the way along the coastline”.
